The apartment house of a merchant Cherepennikov was built in 1902 in eclectic style. Architects Gilyov and Dmitriev made the building on the corner of Liteyny Prospect and Furshtatskaya Street on St. Petersburg’s manner. The corner of the building is marked with a beveled corner and a bay window.
In the corner rooms of the first floor housed the trading house «V. I. Cherepennikov & sons». He became a «progenitor» of the located now here grocery store «Liteyny». Liteyny Prospect, 12.

House plot of the Liteyny Prospect, 12 at the corner of the street Furshtatskaya was first built up in the 1790s. At the end of XVIII century there was a two-stored stone building, the exterior facade facing Liteyny Prospect.
The plot was owned by different people. Among them was Baron Boris Fredericks. A garden in the right part of the plot by Furshtatskaya Street was laid out by him. Fredericks owned the neighboring house number 4.
In 1876, both sites were purchased by merchant Vasily Ivanovich Cherepennikov. Vasily is the founder of a prosperous merchant family. He and his descendants were engaged in trade of colonial goods (tea, coffee, sugar, fruits and wine). In 1883 Cherepennikov decided to build here a new large apartment house.
Architect N. V. Dmitriev designed building project, which didn’t come true. A new project was launched in 1901, the author was Peter Ivanovich Gilyov. On the draft of Gileva here was built a new five-stored building. In the corner rooms of the first floor located the trading house «V. I. Cherepennikov & sons». He became a «progenitor» of the located now here grocery store «Liteyny».
In 1980 the former apartment of Cherepennikovs was adapted for counting room of the grocery store. In the same building was opened canteen for his employees.
